Luftbilder Ostseefjord Schlei, Maasholm, Port Olpenitz, Schleimünde | Die Gemeinde Maasholm hat eine bedeutende Fischräucherei, die 1957 von Gerhard Petersen gegründet wurde, sowie eine Rettungsstation der Deutschen Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger (DGzRS), die seit 1918 in Maasholm präsent ist. Seit 2025 ist Maasholm wieder Doppelstation, da der Seenotkreuzer mit fest angestellter Besatzung von Olpenitz hierher verlegt wurde. Das Naturerlebniszentrum NEZ, das auf dem Gelände einer ehemaligen Bundeswehr-Raketenstellung errichtet wurde, beschäftigt sich mit der Geschichte der Fischerei, Meeresbiologie und Naturschutz.
